Richard Larry Mountz passed away on July 22, 2017, just 3 days after his 79th birthday, with family he loved by his side. He was one of six children born to Harold and Mary Mountz, Sr. of Mohnton, PA.
He graduated from Philadelphia Academy, attended Washington Missionary College and later graduated from Dunsmore Business College.
In 1958, he married Delores Jean Rhodes, and they made home in Takoma Park, MD, Dayton VA, Worthington, OH and finally Collegedale, TN. Throughout his work career he worked at the Washington Sanitarium, Walker Manufacturing, Worthington Foods, Mckee Foods, Shoffner Industries, Morning Pointe and Garden Plaza.
He possessed a great entrepreneur spirit and never met a stranger. He had the ability to build or fix anything. He enjoyed the water, fishing, painting, cooking and music even singing in a barber shop chorus and the Covenant of Praise. Most recently he served as the President of the Greenbrier Cove Community Homeowners Association.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and three brothers Harold, Ronnie and Leonard.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores; two children, Richard “Rick” Mountz, Jr., Cindy (Dennis) Burtnett; four grandchildren, Mallory, Brennan and their mother Pam Mountz; Brittney and Courtney; brother, Mark Mountz; and sister, Marcia Stamm. He was so looking forward to the fall wedding of two of his granddaughters; Mallory to Jeremy Westbrook and Brittney to Drew McMinn. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held August 12th at 3:00 PM in the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church , where he was a long-time member.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be made in his memory to It Is Written, P.O. Box 6, Chattanooga, TN 37401 where he served as a dedicated volunteer. The family welcomes cards sent to 4528 Forsythia Way, Ooltewah, TN 37363.
He now rests in peace in the arms of Jesus awaiting the trumpet call of his Lord’s Second coming.
