Donald Melvin Keene, 83, of Plant City Florida, and more recently of Ooltewah, passed away Friday April 5th, 2019. He was born in Plant City Florida and has been a resident of Ooltewah for 14 years. He was a craftsman when it came to intricate millwork projects and built much of the custom millwork in his Florida and Chattanooga home including projects for the Greenbrier Community where he resided in Collegedale. He was an avid follower of the news, current with news locally and around the world. He enjoyed camping and travel, taking numerous family cruises to the Caribbean. He was the survivor of a horrific car accident 45 years ago, but was able to recover to a relatively normal life style with the long-term care and support of his wife Grace Keene for over 54 years.
He was previously a field engineer for IBM and also helped manage an extensive family owned agriculture business in Florida. Melvin has many friends and family and was a devoted servant of the Seventh Day Adventist Church here in Collegedale and Florida.
He was preceded in his death by his sister, Shirley Lloyd and an adopted son Ralph Robertson. He is survived by his wife Grace Keene of 54 years, Sister Lois Sullivan, children, Beverly Jerman, Charles Johnson, Dale Keene, Donald Keene, Sherry Murphy, 8 Grandchildren, Christen Hayes, Catherine Ruiz, Farish Jerman, Charles Johnson, Amanda Keene, Shea Keene, Taylor Keene, Danielle Keene, and 4-great grandchildren, Dylan , Ruby , London, and Sydney.
