Ethel Swanke Cox, age 96, peacefully went to be with her Lord on January 24, 2018. She lived at Alexian Grove. Predeceased by her beloved husband Walter A. Cox, she is survived by her sister Rosamond (Dick, deceased) Testa, her daughters Lorraine (Kevin) Sanford and Barbara (Tad, deceased) Mindeman, eight grandchildren Tim Shakarian, Anna (Brandon) Comella, Nathan (Laura) Mindeman, Liesl (Matt) Dromi, Hannah (Michael) Shuman, Andrew (Michelle) Mindeman, Samuel Mindeman and Matthew (Katie) Mindeman, and 14 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cox was highly intelligent, excelling in school and as an executive secretary for Johnson and Johnson, Burns and Roe (nuclear power plants designer) and PACCAR. She and her family lived many places in the United States, also living for a time in Berlin Germany. Mrs. Cox enjoyed many concerts, operas and ballets with her family and loved hiking and camping in God’s creation, remaining an avid walker her entire life. Above all, she loved her Lord and her family.
The family wishes to thank Ethel Cox’s friends and the staff at Alexian Grove and Alexian Valley for all their love and care for her over the years. She loved and appreciated you all. Special thanks also to the staff at AlexianVillage Health and Rehabilitation Center and Hearth Hospice. You guided her journey Home with expertise, love and compassion.
Mrs. Cox will be interred in Seattle, Washington where a graveside celebration of her life will be held for immediate family at a later date.
