James "Jim" "Jimmy" Ernest Caroland, 86, of East Ridge, passed away Thursday, September 13.
Jim served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, 1951-1955.
During 30 years at Duncan Park Baptist Church he enjoyed ushering, working with the youth, and participation in several mission trips.
He also volunteered often with Bethel Bible Village.
Jimmy retired in 1985, after 26 years with Bell South and one year with A T and T.
He was predeceased by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Lester (Linda Faye) Caroland, Doug (Linda Carole) Caroland.
Survivors include his sister, Carrie Lou Fletcher; wife, Carolyn Caroland; sons & daughters-in-law, Stephen (Teresa) Caroland, Dennis (Celeste) Caroland, John (Cindi) Caroland; grandchildren & spouses, Cheryl (Matt) Putnam, Todd Caroland, Leigha (Aaron) High, Chad Caroland, Tyler (Aubrie) Caroland, Kristy Caroland, Victoria Caroland, Alyssa Caroland; great-grandchildren, Calleigh Putnam, Collin Caroland.
The Rev. Steve Rowland will conduct a memorial service at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Interment will be in Chattanooga National mCemetery.
