Larry Dyson McKinney, 74, of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on September 25, 2019 following a long illness.
He was born in Dennison, Ohio on March 4, 1945 to the late Alvin and Esther (LaRue) McKinney. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Paulette (Goode) McKinney; his
children Ralph “Sam” (Dawna) McKinney, Lawrence “Larry” (Heather) McKinney, Laura (Brian) Parks; brother John (Connie) McKinney; grandchildren Amanda, Caleb, Madison, Ethan, Avery, Rachel, Allison, and Alicia; great-grandchildren Evrit and Lillie; special brother-in-law Charles Goode; numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry spent 27 years as a devoted Police Officer, and was a proud Air Force and Vietnam Veteran. He later served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard. He loved spending time
outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved music, often gathering with friends and family to entertain with his guitar and banjo.
Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond McKinney and Clarence McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, with visitation beginning at 11am at Brainerd Hills Church of God 410 Friar Road Chattanooga, TN 37421. Graveside services with Military Honors to follow at 2pm at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
