Lee Wayne Oliver

Lee W. Oliver, 70, of Harrison, TN passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

He was a 1967 graduate of Ooltewah High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army, first at Ft. Campbell, KY and then one year in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. For thirty years he was employed by the Dept. of the Army/Army Reserve, 81st RSC, Area Maintenance Support Activity 142 on Discovery Drive in Chattanooga. After his retirement in 2010, he enjoyed building rat rods and fulfilled a lifelong goal of traveling out west when he and his wife drove 10,000 miles in their Holiday Rambler.

He will be sorely missed by family and friends as he could always be counted on to help someone in need.

He was a lifelong resident of Harrison, TN and was predeceased by his parents, William A. and Helen Robinson Oliver.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Hanning Oliver; son, Troy Jamison “Jamie” Oliver; brother, W.A. “Dub” (Wilma) Oliver, Larry E. (Robin) Oliver; sister-in-law, Cheryl A. Hanning; brother-in-law, Steven D.  (Dana) Hanning and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 2-4p.m. in Bayside Baptist Church. Steven Highlander will conduct the memorial service at 4p.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, you may honor Wayne's memory with a donation to Bayside Baptist Church Building Fund or to the American Humane Society.
