Paul Cromwell, Jr.

Paul Cromwell Jr, 91, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Paul was born to the late Paul Sr. and Myrtle Harlan Cromwell on February 10, 1928 in Culbertson, Nebraska. He attended City High School of Chattanooga, where he graduated in 1946. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Coast Guard until 1949. Paul married his lifelong love, Lila Houser Cromwell on March 8, 1958. He went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1964 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked at Tennessee Valley Authority for 29 years as an electrical engineer. After retiring from TVA, he went to work as a realtor at Caldwell Banker Realty.

            Paul was a quiet, but loving man. He adored his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to watch the Chattanooga Mocs and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was an accomplished woodworker, and was always looking to learn something new. Despite his quiet nature, he wasquick with a witty comment and was always available to help his grandchildren with their math homework. He attended First Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 2002 until his death, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir for several years.

            Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lila Cromwell, as well as his daughters Melody Cromwell Hicks and Becky Cromwell Baggett (Greg). In addition, he is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachael Coxey (Levi), Alex Baggett, Grace Baggett, and Allie Nedeau and his great-grandchildren Caroline and Sadie Coxey. He was predeceased by his brother, James and parents, Paul Sr. and Myrtle.

          The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

           Dr. Courtney Krueger will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church.

          Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
