Thomas Smith Obituary

Thomas Gordon “Bill” Smith, 96, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at his home in Chattanooga.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, Joetta McAmis Smith. Their love was noticeably beautiful and they were totally devoted to each other in work and in play.

He leaves a daughter, Devera Lea Smith.

His generosity was quietly shared with many, many people throughout his life and he was an outstanding member of his church.

He served in World War II at Fort Scott on the Presidio in San Francisco and in the European Theatre. It was a fascinating experience in his life.

He became a car dealer in 1950, creating Midway Motor and Auto Parts. Very successful, he enjoyed every minute of it and his family was very proud of him.

Very loved, the world was made better, because he was here.

The Reverend Don Sapp will conduct a graveside service on Tuesday, July 2, at

1:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
