Alma Massengale Poe, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Trula Massengale. Alma lived all of her life in Chattanooga. She was a great storyteller who adored children and worked many years as a substitute school teacher. She was a devoted Christian and loving wife and mother. She was predeceased by her loving husband Don, grandson Heath Stout, and son-in-law George Stout. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Bassett, of Jacksonville, FL, Deborra Stout and Dawn Bailey (Rich), both of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Stacey Morgan (Sean) and Alexandra Bailey (Jahnu), and great-grandson Miles Bright, Navy Lt. Junior Grade. The family thanks the staff and residents of Martin Boyd Christian Home for their love, care and playfulness. Thanks also for the compassionate care of Hospice of Chattanooga. There are no plans for a memorial service.
