Anna Mae Kress Parks, 97, passed at home on March 3, 2016. Born August 9, 1918 in Kingsport, Tennessee, she was the eldest daughter of Sam Allen and Gussie Crow Kress. She graduated from Dobbins Bennett High School in 1938. She was a wonderful mother to her three girls and a devoted wife of 64 years to her husband, Dave. Ann was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class at Signal Mountain Baptist Church since 1970. She was a member of the Signal Mountain Guild, Mountain Gardeners, Birnam Wood Neighborhood Association, Tennessee River Gorge Trust, Audubon Chattanooga, Red Hatters, Tennessee Ornithological Society, and was a valuable asset to her beloved Signal Mountain Community. "Ann possessed a sweet spirit and always wore a smile." She loved nature and all animals, especially Birds.
She was predeceased by her father and mother; her husband, William David Parks Jr. and younger sister, Rosa Yvonne Kress.
Ann is survived by brothers, Allen (Peggy) Kress, Kingsport, Tom (Dee) Kress, Oak Ridge; Daughters, Alix Clair Parks (Wayne Robertson), Signal Mountain, Vickie Parks Bush, Atlanta, Gina Lynn Parks, Kingsport; Grandchildren, Robert Brett Bush, Atlanta; Myra Eve Bower, Roanoke; Nephews, John Allen Kress, Knoxville, Reid Kress, Knoxville, Tyler Kress, Knoxville and niece, Wendy Kress, Oak Ridge. Her beloved dogs Honey Child and Falko and several pet parrots.
She was buried in the family plot at Tyner Cemetery alongside her husband, Dave. The family would like to express great thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga for their special care in her final days.
