Charles Wayne Owens, 79, of Hixson, passed away at his home on October 8, 2022, in the loving care of his family. He is now resting in peace at his new residence in Heaven with his Lord and Savior.

He was generous with his time and skills as a lifelong maintenance master-of-all-trades. He served 36 years at Arnold Palmer/ Pro Group company. When they closed, he went to work at the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Business Development Center as maintenance manager for the building. He loved helping the new business tenants in any way he could. He was affectionately known as "C. Wayne" at the Chamber. After ten years service with them, he retired in 2010.

Wayne graduated from Kirkman High School where he took electrical shop. He was born in Chattanooga and grew up in Avondale. He was one of the "corner boys." They would hang out together near the Mello Kreme with their muscle cars. He met and married Nancy Hall from East Chattanooga and moved to Hixson.

He loved to go to Daytona Beach, camping, and work in his shop with his tools woodworking and building birdhouses, as he loved to watch the birds. He could fix anything. He was a true friend and neighbor and went out of his way to help anyone in need. When he was not working on a project around the house, he loved to watch the Tennessee Vols and the Atlanta Braves.

Wayne loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather He was most happy surrounded by his family cooking out or camping.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Loamie and Loyce Bynum Owens; brother, Morris Owens; and sister, Lynda Gardner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Hall Owens; daughter, Tonia (Rick) Castaneda; granddaughter, Courtney (Jerome) Rebel; grandson, Wesley Holloway; great-grandchildren, Caiden, Hunter, and Journey Rebel; and sister, Phyllis Jean (Melvyn) Green.

A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Youth Pastor David Potter of Lupton Drive Baptist Church.
