Dorothy Gregg Beach, affectionately known as "Dottie," peacefully passed away with her family by her side, on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 88, due to heart failure.
Dottie dedicated her life to education, family, and service. She graduated from City High School and the University of Tennessee, earning her bachelors in Education and advanced degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. She taught at Girls Preparatory School, Hamilton County public schools, and was an adjunct professor of mathematics at UTC and Chattanooga State. For many years she enjoyed working with her family at Gregg's Chattanooga Florist. Later in life - in her 70's - she earned a paralegal degree from UTC, volunteering her services at Legal Aid and the prison ministry Transformation Project.
Dottie raised four children and enjoyed golfing, crocheting, and reading. Her grandchildren loved spending time with their Diamond Dot. She was a member of the sorority Chi Omega, the Jaycettes/Jaycees, the Republican Women, and the Brainerd Women's Golf Association.
Dottie was known for her strong faith, zest for life, and a great sense of humor. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her former husband, Allen G. Beach; her daughters Sandy Daniel, Judy (Dan) Collora, and Amy Beach, Nashville, TN; siblings Frances Bolen, Warner Robins, GA, Judy Hacker, Tom (Ginger) Gregg, Tom Bean, TX, and Mary (Lee) Gurley, Montgomery, AL; grandchildren Ben (Tonya)Daniel, Maggie Daniel, Andrew Daniel, and Emily Daniel; great-granddaughter, Logan Daniel; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A and Lou H Gregg (founders of Gregg's Chattanooga Florist), her son Frederick Gregg Beach, and her son-in-law Randy Daniel.
Pastors Nathan and Emily Garmany will conduct a celebration of Dottie's life at Freedom Church Chattanooga, 1212 South Seminole Drive, on Sunday, January 18, 2026. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM.
