Dorothy Mae Coffman, known lovingly as "Mamaw," passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at 92 years young. To her family, she was far more than a grandmother - she was a protector, a steady place to land, and the heart that held everyone together.
Born on November 11, 1933, Dorothy was one of eleven children from parents, Christian and Mary Rogers She grew up in a large, close-knit family and carried that same spirit of loyalty and care throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her brothers CJ, JW, Charles, William, and Roy Rogers, and by her sisters Mary Lou, Ethel, Eleanor, and Lillian. Her last surviving sister, Zelma Hinkle, remained her dearest friend throughout her life, along with Zelma's husband, Robert "Bob" Hinkle, whom Dorothy loved like a brother.
Dorothy lived a life defined by kindness, resilience, and quiet strength. She adopted and raised her daughter, Angela Allen, whom she loved deeply and lost tragically in 1996. Despite heartbreak, Dorothy continued to pour love into her family, shaping generations with her steady presence and unwavering devotion.
She leaves behind her granddaughters Tonya Brown and Amanda Allen, and her great‑granddaughters Angela "Hayden" Brown and Kenzleigh Brown, who were the light of her life. To them, Mamaw was not only a grandmother - she was a best friend, a safe place, and the person who made life feel steady even in the hardest moments.
Dorothy was vibrant, fun-loving, and beautiful in the truest sense. Her radiant smile could brighten any room, and her gentle way of caring for others made everyone feel seen. She never overlooked anyone in need, and she never hesitated to show up for family, friends, or even strangers. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
