Eddie Bates, Sr., 64, of Hixson, passed from death unto eternal life at his home on Wednesday, April 20th. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was predeceased by his mother, Georgia Bates; brothers, Charles, Joseph & Freddie, all of Chattanooga.

He is survived by his son, Eddie Jr. (Cursty) of Hixson; daughter, Kasey Bates Jones of Red Bank; brothers James of Chattanooga, Wayne (Glenda) of Ooltewah, Gene (Susan) of East Ridge; sisters, Betty of Ringgold, GA, Faye (Larry) McFarland of Cleveland, TN; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

The family will receive guests from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22nd at the Joy Baptist Tabernacle at 4208 N. Access Rd. in Chattanooga.

A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Hwy. 153. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.
