Edward Chapman Brown, 75, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018 surrounded by his wife and family. Edward was born in Chattanooga on March 19, 1943. He was the son of William Looker and Louise Chapman Brown.

During the early 1950s the Brown family moved to Tullahoma where Edward graduated from Tullahoma Senior High School in 1961. He then graduated from the University of Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering in 1966 and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. For six years he served in the Tullahoma Army National Guard. He worked for Combustion Engineering in the Nuclear Engineering Department and later for the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Edward was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was a part of the Perseverers Sunday School class. He was an avid outdoorsman. Through the years he and his family enjoyed camping in many of the National Parks and traveled throughout the United States and abroad. His greatest enjoyment was when he hiked on the Appalachian Trail. He backpacked a number segments from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mt. Katahdin, Maine. Edward was a lifelong golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his friends and son. He was a member of the Incline Investment Club and had a passionate interest in the capital markets.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Kay Carroll Brown; his daughter, Lisa Brown Hayes and husband, Thomas Hayes, of Lookout Mountain and his son, Edward Chapman Brown, Jr. and wife, Emily Frierson Brown of Lookout Mountain. His grandchildren are Thomas Cooper Hayes, William Brown Hayes, Mary Chapman Hayes, Alice Kennedy Brown, Frierson Looker Brown, Bennett Peek Brown, and Daniel Prosper Brown, all of whom will miss his quick wit and steady demeanor.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at Covenant Presbyterian Church on May 29th, 2018 at 7:00 pm followed by a reception in the Schum Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy or Covenant Presbyterian Church.
