February 23, 1931 – February 5, 2015
Edward "Ed" Maxie Hamilton was born on February 23, 1931, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and died in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on February 5, 2015, at the age of 83. Eds work included serving as a railroad billing clerk, pastoring churches in several states, teaching elementary and high school, and working as a hotel night clerk. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Columbas LaFayette Hamilton and Clara Alma Thompson, and by six siblings. His education included degrees from both Tennessee Temple University and the Temple Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a member of the Stanley Heights Baptist Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lavone H. (Cotter) Hamilton; three daughters and their husbands: Cherry L. and Donald Eade of Meridianville, AL; Joy B. and Jack LeGrand, Sr. of Chesapeake, VA; and Starr L. and Tim Bragg) of Dunlap, TN; grandchildren, Chase Eade, Chad Eade (Tori), Shelley Johnson (Chris Johnson), Jack LeGrand, Jr., and Katie Bragg; brother, Albert Hamilton of Pensacola, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Donald Eade will conduct a graveside service Tuesday, February 10 at 11:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
