Frances V. Madewell
Wilson
October 8, 1935 – August 17, 2022
Frances V. Madewell Wilson, age 86, died August 17, 2022, at a local hospital succumbing to injuries of an in-home accident. She was born in Jamestown Tennessee in 1935 to the late Isaac Layton & Hazel Madewell. Her family moved to Chattanooga in 1940 during the war where her father worked at the TNT plant. She was married to the late Joseph Floyd Wilson Jr. for 37 years, and they moved to Rossville GA in 1961. She is survived by her children Larry Wilson, Angie Hodgetts, and Tish Heisley; a sister, Vickey Rockwood; grandchildren Whitney Trower, Casey Trower, and three great grandchildren, Phillip Trower, Madeline Trower, and Lilly Grace Heisley, plus several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Central Hight School in 1954. She worked at Cutter Laboratories, in East Chattanooga for 15 years. She also working in the Walker and Catoosa County School Systems as a substitute teacher for 34+ years, and most recently the Calstead Foundation for 15+ years. She attended the Gospel Tabernacle Cross Connection in Chickamauga GA for 35+ years, where she had previously taught Sunday School Classes, and served as head of Womens ministries in the late 90s. She also served on the Tennessee State Board of Womens Aglow Fellowship for 3 years, one term as President of the Evening Chapter of Womens Aglow Fellowship, and President of the Mountain View Community League in the 1970s . She most recently served her community by volunteering at the Chattanooga Community Kitchen for 10+ years, and the 700 Club as a counselor. Her hobbies were reading her books, playing her Candy Crush, and working in her flowers. She was an avid animal lover and cared deeply for her dogs and cats. Most importantly she was a 24/7 Christian, that never hesitated to counsel and teach the word of God, and tell of his love, goodness, mercy for everyone no matter their religious beliefs. A memorial service will be August 20, 2022, at Cross Connection Assembly of God in Chickamauga GA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Samaritans Purse Charity and Ministries.
