Obituary

Frederick J. Von Hollen, of Chattanooga, died July 3 2017. .

He was born June 14, 1928 in Orleans, Nebraska, where the Great Depression and the Dustbowl years formed a will of anodized steel. He attended a one room school, then the larger Orleans high where he graduated with fourteen others in 1946. He served in the army two separate times, in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged both times. .

He earned a degree in electrical engineering from the U of Nebraska and remained a proud Cornhusker all the days of his life. He built a successful engineering career at TVA for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Augusta Pentz Von Hollen, beloved brother, Herb Von Hollen.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte, a son, Tim, of Hixson, a daughter, Camilla (Bob) of Chattanooga, two sisters, Eleanor Nail of Ponchatoula, LA, and Joann Hays of Hastings, NE, sister in law Lilie Wooten of Clemmons, N.C. seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces nephews

He leaves behind a family profoundly grateful for his life.

Services will be on July 12 at 1 PM at St Martins Episcopal Church, 7547 E Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421, with burial following in the National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37416, St Martins Episcopal Church, 7547 E Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421, or to a favorite charity.
