Gladys Ruth Bell Marler, 97 of Chattanooga, TN and Glendora, CA, died May 1, 2014.
She began her career as a seamstress at Pickett's in downtown Chattanooga and became a successful dressmaker. She was the owner of Gladys Marler Alterations in Los Angeles, CA.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph S. Marler; parents, Ed and Lillie Mae Bell and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Norman (Jo) Blanks of Chattanooga, TN, Larry (Brenda) Marler of Chattanooga, TN, Vivian (John) Love of Garden Grove, CA and Ron (Debbie) Marler of Glendora, CA; grandchildren, Tommy Blanks and Tamara Blanks of Chattanooga, TN, Ben (Beth) Marler of Chapel Hill, TN, Evonne (Andy) Kendle of Chattanooga, TN, Kelly Love of Orange County, CA and Matt (Aimee) Marler of St. Louis, MO with several great-grandchildren.
Dale Kendle will conduct the graveside service on Thursday, May 8 at 1 p.m. in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
