Obituary

Gus Eugene Qualls, 88, of Benton, died November 3, 2015. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed watching all varieties of sporting activities. He was born April 19, 1927 to Phillip Elijah and Elizabeth "Toy" Brown Qualls of Benton, Tennessee. He was employed by General Motors in Detroit, Michigan and later at the Polk County School System. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years and more recently, served at Old Ocoee Baptist Church where his nephew David Qualls pastors. He was a World War II Veteran serving in Japan in 1945. He was predeceased by his parents and both brothers, Jack and Robert Qualls. He will be missed by all fortunate enough to share this journey called life.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Pam Thomas of Benton and Penny Taylor of Decatur, Alabama; four grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas, Izabel Thomas, Grey Taylor and Sarah Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Old Ocoee Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be conducted at 6 p.m. in the church by the Rev.Tony McClanahan.

Interment will be in Benton Memorial Gardens Saturday at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of the Valley or The Alzheimers Association.
