Obituary

Ida Mae Seneker, a retired Registered Nurse, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the age of 81. She and F. Clay Seneker were married on Good Friday, April 12, 1963. Ida then graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, School of Nursing in spring 1963. She had a long, successful, and varied career in Nursing throughout her lifetime. She served in NE Tennessee then in Columbia SC in various roles. Ida came with the family to Chattanooga in July 1981 to support her husband, Rev. F. Clay Seneker, in his new career as ELCA Lutheran minister. In Chattanooga she served in Public Health at the Health Department for many years. Then as Infection Control at Hutcheson Hospital, Parkridge Hospital, and lastly in Memorial Hospital. She truly loved being an RN and educating people! Ida spent many hours researching both her and her husband's family history. And, she was thrilled to share this information at family reunions both in Balsam Grove NC and Morristown TN. She also enjoyed planting and looking at her flowers, especially the native varieties. Her favorites would flourish naturally with only a little bit of Moma's help! And, she loved to share flowers with friends and family. Ida loved her family and special friends with all of her heart! She tried to keep in touch with high school classmates, nursing school classmates, far flung friends, and both chosen & blood family regularly. She prayed for all those she loved, especially when she was no longer able to visit or call! Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Sherman T. & Irona E. Crisp; brothers, W. "Bill" Crisp, R. "Bob" Crisp; and several loved dogs. Loved ones left to cherish her memories are her husband of 61 years, Rev. F. Clay Seneker; daughter, Laura E. Seneker; son, Jason C. Seneker (Carolyn E.); and one beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Seneker (fianc, Jonah); sisters, Shirley Brown (Jim), Susie Fischer (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Virginia Crisp Shipley, Mary Ann Crisp; beloved cousin, Keitha Reid; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many special friends. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hixson TN, on Saturday, August 10 from 1pm until Memorial Service time at 2pm. Ida would tell us that in lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be made to the Humane Educational Society, 4155 Randolph Circle, Chattanooga TN 37406; or Trinity Lutheran Church, 5001 Hixson Pike, Hixson TN 37343; or the charity of your choice. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope." Arrangements entrusted to Covenant Funeral & Crematory.
