James E. DeFriese, Jr. 89, passed away on April 13, 2016. He was born on October 25, 1926 in Chattanooga. He was predeceased by his mother, Lillie Werner; father, James E. DeFriese and sister, Dot Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Jena and daughter, Donna.

He graduated from City High School and attended UTC. He was a paratrooper during World War II and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church. He was a talented musician and singer and performed with several regional bands.

The Rev. Jonathan Schwartz will conduct the graveside service in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10:30am on Monday, April 18.
