IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James 'Jim' Woodrow
Hubbard
April 11, 1944 – January 29, 2021
James W. "Jim" Hubbard, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021, with his family at his side. The cause of death was Alzheimers disease. He was born April 11, 1944, to BW and Velma Hubbard. Jim is survived by children Kim Hubbard and Jamey Hubbard of Chattanooga, sisters Joyce Mooney of Geraldine, AL, and Elaine Tate of Chattanooga. Hes preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Davis of Ooltewah, and niece Cathia Strickland of Geraldine, AL.
Jims photography career began while a student at Central High School, where he sold photos for a nickel apiece. He went on to become a cameraman for WRCB Channel 3 in Chattanooga in the 1970s, before building a 30-year career as a wedding and portrait photographer. He was the proprietor of St. Regis Studio on Ashland Terrace.
Jim most recently enjoyed running a hotdog cart in the downtown area, where he entertained his customers with stories of his children, his cat, Beau, and his life as a young traveling photographer.
He was kind, sweet, gentle, and generous. He was also proud, stubborn, and unapologetically optimistic. He never lost his love of beauty, always pointing out the light on the trees or the shape of the clouds. He loved to garden, and spent the last year of his life helping his daughter, Kim, plant flowers and trees in her yard.
A public Celebration of Life service will be announced in the future.
