Obituary

Jane Barton Phillips died Sunday, July 10, 2016. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Louise Parsons Barton and was born October 11, 1920, in Johnson City, Tennessee; living there and in Knoxville until she graduated from Knoxville High School. She attended the University of Tennessee and worked for and retired from TVA.

She was married to the late Richard H. Phillips of Mattoon, Illinois, and they moved to Signal Mountain in 1952, where they became founding members of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. She was active in various Church groups, mainly the choir and the Altar Guild.

She is survived by her two children, Richard Jr. (Rick) of Chattanooga and Leigh P. Ward (David) of Signal Mountain; her four grandsons, Ashby W. Ward (Samantha) and Reed K. Ward of Signal Mountain, Riley H. and Owen W. Phillips of Chattanooga; her great granddaughter, Parker Jane Ward, as well as several beloved nephews and nieces.

Visitation and interment will be at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Avenue., Signal Mountain, Saturday, July 23rd from 9:00 - 10:00. Service and interment to follow.
