Janet Kathleen Halbrooks of Hixson, Tennessee, died March 31, 2025 at the Solomon's House nursing facility in Red Bank, Tennessee.
She was born October 11, 1934 at Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to George and Vlasta Janecek Ourada where she attended grade school. Her family moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where she attended junior high school. The family moved again to Wrightstown, New Jersey, where she finished high school. After high school, she was a Civil Service employee and worked at Fort Dix Army Post, then McGuire Air Force Base with a top secret clearance. She married Perry G. Halbrooks and moved to Decatur, Alabama, and later to Huntsville, Alabama, before moving to Hixson, Tennessee.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, George Ourada, Jr.; sisters, Vlasta Beadle, Marcy Johnson, all from New Jersey; son, Travis Zane Halbrooks from Hixson, Tennessee.
Her survivors include her husband, Perry G. Halbrooks; son, T. Glenn Halbrooks (Apryl),
three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life in Alabama at a later date.
