Obituary

Janet Hunt Belcher Swindoll, 59, of Chattanooga, Tennessee died Wednesday surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Chattanooga to Claude D. Belcher, Jr., and Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" Roane Belcher, who both predeceased her. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a treasured employee of the Electric Power Board. She was extremely proud of her work at EPB and the people with whom she worked. Her siblings and their spouses survive her, Cathy Belcher Brown and David Brown; Andy and Kathleen Belcher and Clay and Tami Belcher; as well as nieces and nephews and their spouses, Marlene and Anderson McRae their daughter Elizabeth Bronwyn McRae; Matt Belcher and his wife Lindsy; Victoria Belcher; Sam Brown, Joe Brown, Dave Brown, Danette and David Sweat and their son Alexander. To all of her nieces and nephews, she was their favorite Aunt Janet. She is remembered for her grace and her vibrant cooking, her love of companionship and conversation, and her sense of humor and fierce devotion to her friends, those she loved and to her work. She had a most wonderful laugh, especially at her imperfections, and a sense of great empathy and love for her family, co-workers and friends. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 13 at Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev. Susan Butler will conduct the memorial service at 11 a.m. and a reception will be held after the interment of the ashes.
