Jeannette Ellen (Potter) Woodcock, 92
On January 16, 2025, with grace, courage and dignity, Jeannette entered into eternal peace. Affectionately known as "Grama." She was born on August 31, 1932, to the late Frank Ellsworth Potter and Dorac (Hawver) Hildreth in Roulette, PA. She was one of eight children and the only girl. She was proud to be raised on the Potter Farm in Potter County, Pennsylvania.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank C. Woodcock; four siblings: Robert J. Potter, Phillip G. Potter, Arthur R. Potter, and Larry E. Hildreth; and one son, Dale Allen Woodcock.
Left to cherish her memory are three of her four children; her two daughters; Mrs.David( Diane)Work of Coudersport, Pennsylvania; and Denise Walker of Chattanooga, Tennessee and a son; Dwight Woodcock of Cleveland, Tennessee; her three brothers; Fred Potter of Ohio; Bruce Potter of Texas, and Keith Hildreth of Florida, and nine grandchildren; as well as several great and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Jeannette Ellen and Frank Charles Woodcock, of nearly 57 years, were married on April 5, 1952 in Coudersport, PA. Jeannette served the community in her youth and even adult years as a devoted wife in ministry opportunities by; teaching, serving, cooking and leading children. She had various talents and held positions from spot welding to hospital cook. In later years, she found tremendous joy working in the fabric department of the Cleveland Walmart. She treasured her role as mother above all.
Her story was not one of grandiose achievements, diplomas or public accolades but rather a narrative of quiet strength and enduring love. She had no desire for recognition and proclaimed that being a mother and having a family was all she ever wanted in life. She wouldn't play favorites or confess any names, even with a peppermint candy bribe, she declined.. She left us secretly believing we were her favorite, and we are right, we all were. She wanted to be remembered as a grandma who was fair. She showed us how to be courageous while afraid. She pointed us to memorizing scripture and taking all our concerns to God in prayer. She would always say, "God is good." Although we miss her deeply, we rejoice in knowing her spirit is at peace and some glad morning when this life is over, we too shall fly away.
Thank you for the beautiful memories and for the unconditional love you showered upon us. You were not just our mother; grandmother; or sister; you were our friend, confidante, and our greatest supporter.
A celebration of life will be given at a later date. Burial will be in the Raymond Corners Cemetery, Allegany Township. Pennsylvania.
