Obituary

"The completion of your life is about to be reached. You are just about to enter the Real World. I look forward to seeing you there." JFB

Dr. Joel F. Baxley, EdD, entered THIS earthly world on October 9, 1969, but made his grand entrance into the Real World on the night of December 8, 2020. His wife Nancy, daughters Sarah and Madeleine, and mother Candace were all with him to send him off to be with his dad Comer and his grandparents in the Real World. Joel lived his life in anticipation of the Real World where he is cancer free, dancing with the angels, and drawing magnificent masterpieces to adorn his new dwelling. All of his burning questions can be answered and the things that made him say "hmmm" will no longer be a mystery.

While Joels superhero status to his brothers, Tim (Jennifer) and Eric (Cristi) and many nieces and nephews may not transfer to a loftier dwelling in the Real World, it certainly warms the heart of his family to know that he truly lived a life of service and sought after the greater good. Joels gift and passion for the arts and people impacted an extended family of both students and teachers during his career with the Southeast Center for Education in the Arts at UTC.

Joels family invites friends and family to visit with them as they walk through the

Chattanooga Montague Sculpture Park this Friday, December 11, between 2:00 and 5:30. Masks and social distancing required, ties...not so much.

Friends and family are also invited to view the link to his memorial website at jfbaxley.com

In Lieu of Flowers, Joel has requested donations to Splash Youth Arts Workshop.
