John Mitchell McNabb, 85, of Ooltewah, TN, passed peacefully, Sunday, March 16, 2025 at his home. John was born in 1940 in Jasper, TN, son of Ryan Graham McNabb and Eulah Barnett. He worked for the Chattanooga Times for forty-three years, where he retired as an editor in 1998. He loved his years at the newspaper and also loved his retirement spending time with his family and reading, He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Reba Carothers, Willie Maude Wyrick. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Deanna Cantrell McNabb; sons, Ryan (Wendy) McNabb, Len (Jean) McNabb; grandchildren, Rebecca Hope (Kyle) McNabb, Casey Elizabeth McNabb. He was cared for by his family as well as Hospice and the family is deeply grateful for the excellent care from hospice. There will be no formal service, but instead a small family service.
