John R. Tyler, Sr.,82, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away, Tuesday, October 29, 2024. He was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church and enjoyed his membership in the Open Door Sunday School Class. He served his country in the United States Navy. He served as the principal of Meigs South Elementary School for over a decade. He was a member of Charleston Lodge #484 F. and A.M. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and gardening. He loved being on the water and enjoyed being a member of the Vol Navy. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Octia Belle Tyler; son, John Tyler, Jr.; grandson, John "Robie" Tyler, III; mother & father-in-law, Naomi & Tom Gibson.
Survivors include his wife & best friend, Linda G. Tyler; children, Chris (Diane) Tyler, Tammy (Klay) Kaminski; grandchildren, Ross Tyler, Karlee & Kingsley Kaminski, four great-grandchildren and his beloved companion Dixie Grace.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 6 pm -7 pm at North Cleveland Baptist Church, 2815 N. Ocoee St., Cleveland, TN 37312. Dr. Jay McCluskey will conduct a celebration of life service in the church at 7 pm. The family requests attendees wear orange for John's love of the Tennessee Vols.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Open Door Sunday School Class at North Cleveland Baptist Church or K9s for Warriors.
