Jozo Mrkonjic, 69, of Chattanooga, TN, succumbed to cancer at Hospice of Chattanooga, surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Jozo was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stipo & Mara Mrkonjic; brother, Niko Mrkonjic.
Jozo is survived by his wife, Ivka Mrkonjic of 49 years; daughters, Gordana (Slobodan) Brkic, Josipa Mrkonjic; son, Kristijan Mrkonjic; brothers, Ivan (Terezija) Mrkonjic and Mirko (Marica) Mrkonjic; loving grandchildren, Dario Brkic, Sentrel Moore, Jalah Moore, Laila Mrkonjic; brother-in-law, Radovan Nenadic; sister-in-law, Ruzica Nenadic; nieces, Sanela Nenadic and Sandra Nenadic and many more nieces and nephews and family overseas.
Jozo always knew how to make everyone around him laugh, there was truly never a dull moment with him. He worked as a contractor for 40 years overseas and in America, but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health. He spent his free time watching various sports on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jozo was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects and whatever else people needed from him.
The family would like to thank the people at Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care and support during his final days. The family would also like to thank Father David Carter of the Basilica of Saint Peter & Paul. The family also wishes to thank David Hall of Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family would like to thank Saint Stephens Catholic Church & Father Manuel Perez. The family would also like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Covenant Funeral & Crematory for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 7111 Lee Hwy, on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Father Manuel Perez will conduct the service in the church at 11 a.m. Jozo will be laid to rest at the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
