Kenneth Gene Laughlin, age 68, of Collegedale, TN, passed away at home on December 25, 2025. Ken was born on May 15, 1957 in New Market, VA to EJ and Shirley Laughlin. He graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in 1975 and attended Andrews University, graduating in 1981with a BA degree. Ken taught English in South Korea and Los Angeles, CA for a total of 13 years. He later completed a one-year nursing course and worked in a variety of nursing roles before transitioning to the OR as a surgical technician. This led to his final career in supply chain management, working for Surgery Ventures of HCA Healthcare for the past 20 years. Ken loved taking care of family, friends, plants, and pets. The time and energy he devoted to others has been greatly appreciated by those he helped. Ken loved the outdoors, and most weekends and vacations found him hiking in the mountains or riding his bicycle through Enterprise South Nature Park. He also loved his seven years singing and traveling with Christian Edition while living in Southern California. He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Faith Ann; daughter, Kaitlin Ann (Ryan) Roberts; and son, Kenneth James Laughlin. He also leaves behind his mother, Shirley Laughlin; brothers, Jamie (Wendy) and Wayne (Marie); and sister, Debbie (Mike) Porter as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elwyn James Laughlin and nephew, Jason Todd Porter. Memorials will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 4 pm at the Apison Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11421 Bates Rd, Apison, TN 37302 and on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 11 am at the New Market, VA Seventh-day Adventist Church, 62 W.
