Collegedale City Judge and attorney, Kevin Blair Wilson, passed away on January 9, 2026, at home cared for by his loved ones. Kevin graduated from Southern Adventist University in 1978 and obtained a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1981 where he met his wife to be, Scarlett. They opened a law practice in Chattanooga in 1982 and cherished 44 years together.
Kevin fiercely loved his children, Seth and Katy and was so very proud of them. Seth followed in his parent's footsteps and graduated from UT College of Law in 2016. After graduating, Seth and his dad practiced law together, a shared passion, along with their love of sports which they discussed daily.
Although he fell asleep briefly during Katy's PhD defense, he was extremely proud of her for following her passion for chemistry. Kevin was never afraid to show his emotions and he cried at Katy's basketball milestones such as her senior nights and the first ODAC win for her college basketball team. Kevin prided himself on being Katy's first coach and loudest fan.
Kevin loved being an attorney and judge. His favorite part of his professional life was helping people and trying to make a positive difference in the lives of the people he encountered.
He so enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with other judges and attorneys, and he had a special place in his heart for all of the court clerks and personnel. As much as he loved the law, he also loved food and cooking. He baked cakes for the clerks and made his special Christmas Chex mix. He had deep respect for the police officers in Collegedale and in the other courts where he sat as special judge.
Kevin enjoyed working with young people and volunteered to speak at schools, assisted with mock trial competitions, and participated in Southern Adventist University's School of Business programs.
Kevin was a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association, TN Municipal Judges Conference, and TN General Sessions Judges Conference, and ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals. Kevin was licensed to practice in TN and GA.
Kevin was honored by Legal Aid of East Tennessee with the Bruce C. Bailey Volunteer Lawyers Award for his assistance to those who were unable to afford legal services. This award meant so much to him because it recognized his passion to use his knowledge to help others.
Another significant honor that Kevin cherished was his selection by the Chattanooga Bar Association to be inducted into the 2019 Fellows Class. He was humbled to be honored by his peers in such a meaningful way.
Kevin loved life and greeted each day, even the hard ones, with a positive attitude. The best way to honor Kevin is to reach out and help or encourage someone, show kindness and respect to those you encounter, mentor the young people around you, and enjoy each day.
Kevin's dear ones include his wife, Scarlett; his son, Seth; his daughter, Katy (Chloe); his heart son, Chase Reimer (Sara); his sister, Candace Jorgensen (Lennard)his brother, Kent (Claire); beloved cousins and aunts and uncles and countless friends.
A remembrance will be held at a later date.
