Obituary

Lee McKinley Choate, AKA "Kinny", age 73, died suddenly on June 25, 2023 in his home in Harrison, Tennessee. Kinny was born to Lawrence and Nannie Choate on August 2, 1950. A standout athlete in baseball and basketball, and a 1968 graduate of Chattanooga Central High School, Kinny was the youngest player to hit an over-the-fence homerun at historic Engel Stadium. Kinny was drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees and played for several years before returning to Chattanooga to build a home construction business.

In recent years, he joined his sons business, A&H Flooring. An avid sportsman, he found pleasure in hunting and fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildrens sports activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandy Wilson.

He is survived by his son, Aaron Choate, and grandchildren, Hayden and Bailey Choate, all of Chattanooga.

Services will be held on Thursday July 6, 2023, at Bayside Baptist Church located at 6100 Hwy. 58 in Harrison, TN. Visitation will be from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Memorial service will begin at 6:00pm followed by a celebration of life.
