Lula Mae Johnson, age 83, of Apison, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023. Lula was born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee, a daughter of Alvin and Mamie Oliver Godfrey. She married the love of her life, James Freddie Johnson. Lula retired from McKee Bakery after more than 55 years. She was predeceased by her husband, James Freddie Johnson; parents, Alvin & Mamie Godfrey; brothers, Ed Godfrey and Tommy Godfrey; sister, Irene Bridges; niece, Wendy Beth Godfrey and long time best friend, Patsy Vaudreuil of Apison, TN. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Johnson, Pamela (Sam) Houston; son, Ricky Johnson; grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Fine, Christopher Whittle, Caitlyn Owens, Heather Tinker, Daniel Smith, Nicole Johnson, Justin Johnson, Tyler Johnson with twenty-one great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13 at The Lord's House, 4900 Bill Jones Road, Apison, TN, 37302 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pastor Donald Oliver will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. in the church. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pamela Houston to help cover funeral expenses.
