Obituary

Mardee Francis Schlosser, of Hixson, Tennessee, formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, surrounded by love.

Mardee was born on July 9, 1949, to the late Lewellyn "Luke" Spencer and Florence Spencer. She graduated from Ainsworth High School with the Class of 1968. She worked at Fisher Body in Flint, Michigan, from 1972 to 1976.

On September 21, 1974, Mardee married the love of her life, Louis "Big Lou" Schlosser. Together they shared 35 years of marriage until his passing in 2009. Mardee and Lou were active members of the VFW in Flint, Michigan, where Mardee remained a lifetime member. They enjoyed spending time with friends and participating in many VFW activities throughout the years.

Mardee found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved needlepoint, shooting pool, bowling, and playing Bingo.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Michele) Schlosser of Arlington, Texas, Kenneth Schlosser of Flushing, Michigan, and Kelly (Corde) Lewis of Hixson, Tennessee; stepchildren, Shelly Clark of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Bobby (Cynthia) Schlosser of Whitney, Texas; brother, Markus (Shelby) Spencer of Marshall, Texas; grandchildren, Nikolas Taylor, Hayden Schlosser, Hayley Trotter, Kylee Schlosser, KJ Schlosser, Kellen Schlosser, Kennedy Schlosser, Krista (Michael) Jett, Cassie (Josette) Clark, and Ally (JC) Baldwin; nine great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mardee was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beverly Spencer; sisters-in-law, Irene Bexton, Freida Rider, and Ruth Golembieski; brothers-in-law, Joe Schlosser, Bill Schlosser, and Gene Schlosser; and her beloved niece, Mary Bostic.

After moving to Tennessee with her daughter and son-in-law, Mardee was blessed with an extended family of friends who quickly became family. They checked on her, celebrated life's moments with her, and surrounded her with love and companionship. She cherished these relationships and the joy they brought to her life.

Mardee faced life's challenges with remarkable courage and determination. She was a colon cancer survivor and overcame numerous health obstacles throughout the years. Even through difficult times, she remained resilient, grateful, and full of laughter.

Above all, Mardee loved her family. Her life was filled with love, friendship, laughter, and countless memories that will be treasured forever by those who knew her.

Mardee was a true spitfire. She never hesitated to speak her mind and was known for telling it like it was. Whether you agreed with her or not, you always knew where you stood with Mardee. Her honesty, strong will, and feisty spirit were part of what made her so special. She faced life on her own terms, with determination, humor, and a fierce love for those she cared about. Though she may be gone from our sight, the memories of her laughter, stories, and unmistakable way of "telling it like it is" will live on forever.

Her legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 6th, 2026 at Chester Frost park in Hixson Tennessee.

Another service will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery on -Friday July 17th, 2026 promptly at 2:30 pm followed by a celebration of life dinner at the VFW post 822 in Burton Michigan at 4:30pm.
