Mary Ann Shafer, 84, of Greeneville, TN entered her final rest Tuesday, March 11, 2014 after battling dementia for years and is now finally free. She was a long-standing member of Maryville, TN Seventh Day Adventist Church and she lived each moment looking for Jesus' return. Jennifer (William) Busse care for her during some of her last days in Red Bank, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Shafer; parents, Lila Digman-Milam and William Roy Milam; sister, June Armando; brother, William Roy (Bonnie) Milam and a great-grandson. Survivors include her children, Cheryl (Scott) Bowman, Deborah (Mike) Officer and David (Cheryl) Shafer; brothers, Benjamin (Bonny) Milam and John (Francis) Milam; sister, Norma Nurnberger; 2 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family asks for donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mary Ann Shafer.
