Mary Aleta Wooten Word, age 75, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Monday, January 29, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, John B. and Evelyn Wooten and survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Joe Word. She was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, a member of the DAR, Friends of the Chattanooga Public Library, and a former member of the Chattanooga Historical Society. She donated her time and crocheted hundreds of scarves and hats for charity. Mary Aleta graduated from City High School, class of 1966, received her Bachelor's Degree from UTC and her Master's Degree from UTK. At her request there will be no service.
