Maude R. Melton (age 94) passed away (Oct. 10, 2018). She was a native of Tracy City, TN where she graduated from Grundy Co. High School. She later moved to Chattanooga and attended UTC. She was past president of PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at Missionary Ridge Elementary School and Brainerd Jr. High School and also president of Missionary Ridge Garden club. Music was an important part of her life. She was music director at local churches (Brainerd Hills Presbyterian and Westminster Presbyterian) and was a patron of local musical arts.

She was conscious of her Southern heritage as her ancestors fought in the Civil War. She was a member of the Grundy Co. Historical society and the Chattanooga Historical Society.

With her husband (Bryan U. Melton) she had two sons: Rod (of McKinney, TX)(grandchildren: Heather, Reid, and Neil) and Kim (of Akron, PA)(grandchildren: Jenna, Jordan, and Morgan). She was the sister of Alma R. Harper, Helen B. Roddy and brother of Burge S. Roddy (of Tracy City, TN).

Mother, we will miss you so much. Thank you for all you did for us. You left your mark in this world.

Funeral service will be at 1st Presbyterian Church of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA (Friday Oct 19, 2018, 12:00 noon). Interment will be (with her husband) in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
