Peter Russell Gibson, 79, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died early Thursday morning at home in Signal Mountain, Tennessee surrounded by his family. "The strife is oer, the battle done, the victory of life is won " best describes Peters brave and faith-filled life. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Valerie; sister, Judy Fisher; children, CDR Ethan (Cynthia) Gibson; Andrea (John) Becker; Kathryn Gibson (Joey); Samuel Gibson; grandchildren, Maxwell, Peter, Daniel Gibson; McKenzie Davis; Shelby Weitzel.

Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1936, he was the son of Russell and Irva Gibson of Rockford, Illinois. He retired as Vice President of Corporate Sales & Marketing from First Thermal Systems Company in Chattanooga, TN. He was particularly fond of his role as "teacher" in the Neema Refugee Resettlement Ministry in Chattanooga.

A Memorial Service at St Timothys Episcopal Church will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 3pm with visitation following the service. Committal of ashes at St Timothys at a later date.
