Roger Joseph
Bourgeois
March 19, 1952 – January 31, 2026
Roger Joseph Bourgeois, 73, of Birchwood, Tennessee, passed away on January 31, 2026.
Born in Acushnet, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Chicoine) Bourgeois. Roger served in the U.S. Army, the Army Reserves, and the Army National Guard, and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Award.
Roger was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and faithfully served in the church's van ministry for more than 15 years. He also served in Master Clubs at Lakewood Baptist Church.
He attended and completed three years of Faith Bible Institute with a 4.0 GPA. Roger was an avid creationist.
Roger enjoyed playing cribbage with his wife and family-especially when he was the winner.
At 17 years old, Roger became enthralled with the NASA space program and the moon landing. He studied books, literature, and media on the subject throughout his life and became a wealth of knowledge on the material.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dorothy (Chicoine) Bourgeois, and by his brother, Albert Bourgeois Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Bourgeois; stepson Dan Kelley (Karen); stepdaughters Shannon Kelley (Tony Gatlin) and Deborah Detwiler (Scott); nephew Ryan Bourgeois; niece Jill Colon‑Romero (Emmanuel); two grand‑nieces; eight step‑grandchildren; nine step‑great‑grandchildren; and sister‑in‑law Deborah Winslow Bourgeois.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 in Lakewood Baptist Church, 6626 Hunter Road, Harrison, TN 37341, from 5 - 7 p.m. Pastor Ronnie Gilbert will conduct the funeral following the visitation at 7 p.m. in the church.
Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Lakewood Baptist Church Van Ministry.
