Shelby Richard Sykes, age 71, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024. Shelby retired from TVA, loved radio controlled planes, and was a jack of all trades. He was a hard worker and wonderful provider. He was known as Papa to his 11 grandchildren and loved them deeply. Shelby was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Louella Sykes and his brother, Michael Sykes. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marleen Sykes; brothers, Glen (Rachelle) Sykes; Darryl (Aline) Sykes, and Daniel Sykes; children, Jason (Sarah) Sykes, Rebecca (Ben) Sinclair, and Jeremy (Kimberly) Sykes; grandchildren, Samuel, Luke, Jude and Elizabeth Sykes; Andrew, Katherine, Emma and Faith Sinclair; Jack, Levi and Claire Sykes. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Calvary Independent Baptist Church from 11a.m. to 1p.m. Pastor Jamie Colbert and Ben Sinclair will conduct the funeral at 1p.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Dailey Hills Cemetery.
