Shirlene 'Shirl' Jones Smith passed from this earth on November 10, 2019. She was born July 17, 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO. After graduating from Southeast Missouri State she worked as a high school home economics teacher. This is where she met and married her life partner Franklin Smith. Together they moved to Cary, NC where they both retired from Research Triangle Institute. She loved to cook, sew and spend time with her grandchildren. She and Frank were long time members of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church.

Her loving husband Frank of 59 years, daughters Teresa Dodd and Pam Capps, grandchildren Justin and Paige Dodd, Katie (Noah) Whittenburg and Emily Capps, and many nieces and nephews, survives her.

Teresa Dodd and The Rev. Lauren Efird will conduct the Memorial Service at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina Thursday, November 21st at 1:00 p.m. There will be a reception after the service in the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, RossWoods Adult Day Center (Dalton, GA) or Parkinson's Research.
