Ted Emmitt Howard III, SubGenius violinist poet gardener, passed away on December 4 after a short battle with cancer. He was 44 years old. He was born on September 16, 1971 in Chattanooga and was a graduate of Hixson High School. He was a Brock Scholar at UTC. He received his MFA in poetry from The University of Maryland.
From an early age, he loved computers, photography, and books. He was a voracious reader who devoured every book in front of him. As a Buddhist, he found his peace in his garden where he and his wife created a habitat for wildlife.
He was preceded in death by his father Ted E. Howard Jr.
He is survived by beloved wife Mary Goodson, mother Pauline Howard, sister Laura Howard, brother-in-law Carey Shinbaum, and three rescue cats.
