Dr. Virgil Thomason Jr., 82, passed away September 20, 2021surrounded by his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Mae and Virgil Thomason, Sr.; sister, Leila Grisetti; and his beloved wife, Naomi Thomason.

Dr. Thomason is survived by his daughter, Diana (Pete) Thomason Rice and granddaughter, Courtney Alexandra Rice.

A native of Wooster, Ohio, he received a BS in Engineering from the Case Western Reserve University. Later, attending the University of Tennessee, he received both an MS and PHD. He taught advanced electrical engineering courses at UTC for several decades, eventually being named Professor Emeritus with the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

A man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and a gentle kindness, he will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
