Walter Edward Rawls was born on October 11, 1952, son of Harry and Miriam Rawls. He called Ooltewah, TN his home for the past year being cared for by his sister, Ruth. Walter grew up in Charleston, South Carolina where he resided until January of 2024. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church his entire life. Walter joined the US Navy after high school to serve his country like his father, Harry who served in World War II. Walter loved to fix old TV's piddling with any electronics that needed service and carpentry work. Walter was preceded in death by his mother and father Harry and Miriam Rawls and his brother, Jimmy Rawls. Walter is survived by his sister, Ruth (Truman) Atkins; nieces, Sarah (Josh) Henry and Andrea Rawls and nephew, Coleman Rawls, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Walter was known by his neighbors for sitting on his porch reading his paper, walking to their porch for a quick chat, collecting newspapers and walking them up and doing odd jobs to help out in the neighborhood. He enjoyed watching all sports rooting for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Walter loved his family well and loved a good banter!
