David Lamar Wilson, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on November 25th. He was 80 years old.
David was born August 6, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a wonderful husband, dad, father in law, uncle, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
His life was radically changed when he met King Jesus as his Savior. He pastored Mowbray Mountain Baptist Church and East 34th Street Baptist for many years.
He was full of life and never met a stranger.
In 1958 he won the Chattanooga City Weight Lifting Championship in his weight class.
He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He was awarded as a sharpshooter and for his marksmanship.
David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Lorene Wilson; parents, Polk and Lillie Bell Wilson, his siblings, Eugene Wilson, Alberta Rhodes, William “Curly” Wilson, and Joyce Crowley.
David is survived by his son, Dr. Tony L. Wilson (Leslie); his daughter, Donna Oldham (Mark); 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and very special friend Judy Roden.
David was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
There will be a private graveside service in the National Cemetery and a memorial service at a later date to be held at White Oak Baptist Church.
