Ed Howerton of Chattanooga passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and son while holding their hands on Tuesday December 29th, 2020 at the age of 68 as he entered into the gates of Heaven.
Ed was born on June 16th, 1952 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Silas and Juanita Howerton. Ed moved to Middlesboro, Kentucky at the age of 4 where he enjoyed growing up with his family. Ed then moved to the Chattanooga area where he graduated from LFO and enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served his country faithfully for 7 years. He then obtained his Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Edmondson College. Ed used this education to work as a Senior Computer Programmer for Goody’s and then Shaw Industries, where he retired from in 2010.
In his spare time, Ed loved working in his garden and hunting that all elusive 10-point buck. Ed also enjoyed going to festivals with his wife and eating at the best “country food” restaurants in town with her. A huge fan of history, Ed loved to spend time with his son talking about anything from the Civil War, to WW2 to the assassination of JFK. Ed also loved his family at Brainerd Hills Church of God where he and his wife were dedicated members.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Juanita, and his niece Emily Fewell. Ed is survived by his wife Connie and their son Colin, his step-daughter Tonia and husband Gary Peavyhouse of Dayton, Tennessee, his younger brother Dennis, wife Penny and nephew Andrew of Ringgold, Georgia and his little sister Cindy Fewell, her husband Byrom and his niece Laura and nephew Clay of Hoover, Alabama.
Visitation will be Sunday January 3rd, 2021 from 1:00-4:00pm at Brainerd Hills Church of God immediately followed by the home going service at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brainerd Hills Church of God in the name of Connie Howerton.
