Elizabeth (Little) Carpenter

Elizabeth L. (Betsy) Carpenter died January 16, 2021.  She was 86 years old. 

Betsy was born and raised in Miami, Florida.  At the age of 22, Betsy married Charles Carpenter and began life as a Navy wife spending the next twenty years raising three children while living in eight states and the Philippine Islands. With an engaging smile that warms hearts and brightens days, she loved meeting people, especially little children. She was a member of Saint Thaddaeus Episcopal Church for 43 years and worked as an usher and with the hospitality, flower guild and refugee resettlement committees before her illness. She also loved crafts, entertaining, cake decorating, cooking, and collecting recipes.

She was preceded in death by her parents Franklin and Mary Louise Little and by her sister Kristin Moulton. Survivors include her husband of 64 years Charles Carpenter, son Charles (Beverly) Carpenter Jr., daughters Marie (Pat) Sugrue, Elizabeth (Bobby) Lackey, granddaughters Kristin Schitea and Hannah Carpenter, grandson Matthew (Jamie) Schitea, great grandson Cale Schitea, step-granddaughter Nicole Sugrue, great  grandchildren Quinton, Adrian and Londyn.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service will take place at Saint Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Thaddaeus Episcopal Church, Saint Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, or Metropolitan Ministries.

The family expresses its deep appreciation to The Bridge at Ooltewah and Hospice of Chattanooga for the loving care they provided during Betsy’s lengthy illness.
