Glenda Marie Newell

Glenda Marie Newell of Cleveland Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday April 13, 2022.

Glenda was born in Chattanooga Tennessee to Rev. Chester Lee and Marie Scoggins on May 19, 1940.  She Graduated from Chattanooga High School.  Glenda was a lifelong musician who worked as a church pianist at various churches in the area.  Glenda also taught piano and assisted hundreds of students in their efforts to learn how to play.

Glenda was preceded in death by her son, Charles Lee Newell, father, Chester Lee Scoggins, mother, M. Marie Scoggins, and Brothers, David Scoggins, Donald Scoggins, and Eldon Scoggins.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Sheri Marie Newell, “adopted” daughter Renee Henderson, a niece and two nephews.  Glenda also adopted several Grandchildren who were spoiled rotten and received all her love.  Glenda continued that tradition with her first Great-Granddaughter, Selah Cate.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Kindred Hospice, Cleveland and specifically to nurses Amber and Taylor for your kindness and support over the past year.

A memorial service is being held Monday, May 9, 2022 with visitation at Brainerd Hills Church of God from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Rev. Dwight Henderson and The Rev. Tyler Henderson will conduct the service at 7 p.m. in the church.
